I can’t get to the gym!

If you’re making a new commitment to exercise, it can be daunting. Joining a gym is expensive, and then there’s the matter of what to do when you get there and getting there regularly. And everyone who has gone to the gym for a while has had a day that it turned out they forgot something crucial. Like underpants or their earphones.

Don’t forget about walking. This humble activity is easy to do and requires no particularly special equipment or facilities (like a shower). Gyms almost always have at least one treadmill free (if you happened to get there but just forgot some gear), and a little extra walking can easily be tucked into the work day. Ten minutes two or three times a day is enough to keep your heart happy, and a quick walk can wake you up if you’re feeling snoozy after lunch, too.
