Should you change your food pattern? Here are some considerations:
– Are you having trouble with portion control?
– Are you eating a lot of packaged food or fast food?
– Do you have trouble staying alert during the day?
Whole foods, especially high-protein foods and vegetables, can make it easier to control how much you eat by being both more satisfying and more filling. And getting enough protein can keep your energy level more even during the day.
We all need plenty of protein (meats, dairy, beans, legumes, some grains and seeds) to keep our muscles and other tissues in good shape, plenty of fiber (whole fruits, vegetables, whole grains, oatmeal, lentils) to keep our GI tract healthy, and total calories that are in balance with our activity. Line up those building blocks, and choose the forms you enjoy.
